Powder Coating

The benefits of powder coatings are present on the products we use every day. From the appliances in our home to the equipment in our office to the shelving in our neighborhood stores, powder coating plays a protective role.

For parts that require the deposition of pretreatment solutions and powder coatings only in specific areas, the right masking tape can play a vital role in producing high quality coated parts. Both the adhesive and backing are critical aspects in selecting a powder coating tape. Since most powder coatings are cured at temperatures exceeding 300°F, an adhesive that performs at elevated temperatures is required to prevent the tape from leaving a sticky adhesive residue behind upon tape removal. The backing material must also provide sufficient tensile strength to resist tearing when removed.

Dielectric Polymers manufacturers a complete line of high temperature masking tapes that provide abrasion resistance during the coating process, resistance to shrinkage during curing, fine line definition on coated parts and clean tape removal. Our powder coating tapes have a proven track record in the finishing industry, enhancing operating efficiency and cost savings by reducing rejects and labor on rework.

We offer both self-wound tapes and tapes furnished on a liner for die cutting into various shapes and sizes when selective masking is required. Our tapes are available with high temperature silicone adhesive on a polyester or polyimide film backing for high temperature protection even in the most demanding applications.

Whether you are coating automotive parts, machinery components or appliance housings or serving the military sector or consumer market, producing superior coated parts requires a superior performance masking tape. Dielectric Polymers has the solution for the finishing industry's high temperature masking needs.

Self-Wound Masking Tapes

  • NT-590, 590-2: silicone adhesive on a one and two mil polyimide film backing for custom coating applications with continuous temp. resistance to 500°F (260°C) and short-term service to 600°F (315°C).
  • NT-8512-2: silicone adhesive on a two mil polyester film backing with temperature resistance to 350°F (177°C).

Selective Masking Tapes

  • NT-590DL: silicone adhesive on a one mil polyimide film backing laminated to a clear polyester release liner for custom coating applications with continuous temp. resistance to 500°F (260°C) and short-term service to 600°F (315°C).
  • NT-9512-2DL: silicone adhesive on a two mil polyester film backing laminated to a clear polyester release liner with temperature resistance to 350°F (177°C).
